ESTIMATED FUEL COST
£0.00
Enter journey distance, fuel efficiency and fuel price to calculate.
This calculator estimates fuel cost based on the figures entered.
How to calculate fuel cost
Fuel cost is calculated by estimating how much fuel a journey will use and multiplying that by the price of fuel per litre.
Example: 100 miles at 40 mpg
A 100 mile journey at 40 miles per gallon uses around 11.36 litres of fuel.
If fuel costs £1.50 per litre, the estimated fuel cost is around £17.05.
What this calculator is for
This fuel cost calculator helps estimate the cost of a car journey using distance, fuel efficiency and fuel price.
It may be useful for commuting, road trips, delivery work, business mileage, family travel, budgeting or comparing journey costs.
Fuel cost formula
A simple fuel cost formula is:
Fuel cost = litres used × fuel price per litre
Fuel used depends on journey distance and the vehicle’s fuel efficiency.
Important note
This calculator is for general informational purposes only. Actual fuel use may vary depending on driving style, traffic, weather, vehicle condition, route, tyre pressure and load.
